The City of Winston does not have its own dog license, but does require dogs have the Douglas County License. This license can be applied for at the Winston Police Department.

Requirements:

• Proof of current rabies vaccination from the veterinarian. (Rabies Certificate)
• The required fee for a dog that is spayed or neutered is $10 a year. The fee for a dog that is not spayed or neutered is $40 a year. You can purchase a license for as long as the rabies vaccination is good.

The Winston Police Department will write you a receipt for the amount paid for the license and send the paperwork and money to the county. Douglas County Animal Control will mail you a receipt and the actual tag to be placed on the dog’s collar.
